Jill Ellis is a winning soccer coach in America's history. She is currently an executive at San Diego Wave FC. In fact, she was the head of the United States women’s soccer national team from 2014 through October. She is a USSF Pro Coach and mentor for the next generation women coaches.

Jill Ellis was the most successful coach in American soccer history, winning 106 games. The 1-1 draw against Korea was her last game. Ellis was surrounded before the game by her family and friends. Lily, her daughter, was seated alongside Ellis. When she was asked about her final game, she laughed.

Jill Ellis has created a mentoring program that will help the next generation female soccer coaches. As the President of the San Diego Wave FC franchise (the newest in the National Women's Soccer League), she also serves. She will share her insights and expertise on building a community and motivating people to work towards a common goal.


Ellis spent the last year working hard to create the program and raise donations. She will raise money to fund promising female coaches who otherwise would not be able to afford costly licensing programs. Mentors will be assigned for the women and will help them to build their professional networks. The program is expected that it will sponsor around 30 women during its first season.

She would love to have a female coach as her head coach

Jill Ellis is a former US women's soccer coach and wants to see more female leaders in pro sports. She has been offered several coaching positions and hopes to see more women in leadership roles in pro sports. She is creating a new program that will provide money and mentorship to women who are interested in becoming head coaches. These mentors will offer support and guidance, as well as help to build professional networks.

Jill Ellis hailed from a country where women couldn't play competitive soccer. Margaret Ellis, Margaret's mother, opposed her daughter's participation. It was considered unethical to play soccer back then. She moved to Virginia when she was 17 to play soccer, and she also led her high school soccer team towards a state championship.

Jill Ellis has been coaching for more than twenty years. She has a USSF Pro coaching license. She started her coaching career as a young player at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax. Later she went on to win the Under-21 Championship as well as the state championship with her team, Braddock road Bluebelles. She was also a college soccer player at William and Mary University and was named All-American. Ellis earned her awards as a coach even though her playing days were during her early twenties.

Ellis has extensive sports management experience, in addition to her many years of coaching. She held several leadership positions including the United States Soccer Federation's Development Director. She also served as an assistant coach for the U.S. women's national team and coached women's youth teams. Ellis was made interim head coach of senior women's national team in 2012. She was an interim coach for 2 matches in 2014 and holds a USSF Pro coaching certificate.
