USA has a long history in supporting female sports teams. Women athletes are making waves in sports, from Biney to Schmitt and Edwards to Vollmer. But, even with all the success stories of women's sports teams, there are still some outstanding female athletes. Let's take a look a few of the most prominent. Biney

Maame biney is an American short-track speed skater. She won bronze at the 2018 Winter Olympics' Women's Short Track event. She was a short track competitor at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. Biney's incredible performance has sparked worldwide interest. Here are some facts about Biney. She is a true champion who is determined to win the world's best competition.

Schmitt

Allison Schmitt, one of the USA's most decorated female athletes, has spoken about her battle with depression. After the 2012 Olympic Games she was removed from the national team and world championships. She struggled with depression. She fell into deep depression. She struggled to compete at the 2016 Olympic trials and even thought about driving off the road. It was her determination to get back in the pool that paid off and she became again the US Olympic swimming champion.

Vollmer

Dana Whitney Vollmer is a five-time Olympic gold medalist and former world record holder in the swimming competition. In the 2004 Summer Olympics, she set a new world record. She also won the Olympic bronze medal and the bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She is a former college swimmer and has trained for many years to be a world-class competitor. Here are five reasons why Vollmer is so great:


Joyner-Kersee

Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee, USA, is a retired track and field athlete who won four Olympic medals, including three gold, two silver, and one bronze. She is the greatest long jumper in history and an outstanding heptathlete. Her many achievements include the 1984 Olympic long-jump title. Joyner-Kersee won the silver medal for the long jump in 1996.

Evans

Aja Evans, bobsledder, was an Olympic medalist with Team USA. She also serves as a brakeman for the bobsled. She was raised in Chicago where she was an All-American shotputter and a track-and-field City Champion. Evans was an All-American in track & field and won the shot put title at the University of Illinois. After joining the 2012 bobsled team, Evans was able to perform at the Olympics.

Voisin

Maggie Voisin is a female athlete from the United States who is on the U.S. Olympic team this year. After sustaining a leg fracture, she missed the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. She was unable to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics after she sustained a left ACL tear. Voisin was unable to compete for eight years due to the injury, but Voisin is back.

Retton

In 2004, Retton was a member of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, an organization created by the U.S. government to increase physical activity and encourage Americans of all ages to participate in sports. This council is part of United States Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Public Health and Science. While the bill did not become law, Retton met with its sponsor and helped to drop the proposal.
