Varas' USMNT United 20 team features a mix MLS talent and European imports. All but one of Varas' U20 players have played before in the U20 league, while a few others are regular starters with MLS clubs. The squad is missing a center forward, though.
Revelations Cup
On Wednesday, the U.S. Men's National Team's (USMNT), will launch its Revelations Cup Tournament Mexico. The tournament will take place over 10 days and includes four U-20 national team teams of international standard. The tournament hopes to bring the best emerging players to fans and help change sports history.
Varas and his team are having a difficult opening game in the Revelations Cup against Brazil. Varas, who was only hired in December, had just a few training sessions with the squad before the competition. The squad did not register one goal. Varas claimed that his players are up for the challenge, and are hard at work to improve.
FIFA U-20 World Cup
The FIFA U-20 World Cup is a biennial football tournament for male players under the age of 20. FIFA organizes the tournament. The first edition was held in Tunisia back in 1977. It was previously known as the FIFA World Youth Championship, but has since become a world-renowned event. Qualify from six youth championships to qualify for the tournament. The next stage will be decided by the two top teams in each group. The remaining four teams will be eliminated.
Argentina is the tournament's most successful team with six wins. Their last title was in 2007 when they won the tournament at Canada. Brazil, England. Ukraine.
Olympic qualifying tournament under-23 players
The Olympic qualifying tournament for under-23 players has been held every four years. The tournament is for under-23 players and is distinct from the FIFA World Cup. Each nation can have up to three wildcards beyond the age limit. The United States failed to qualify for the tournament in four of its last four years. It has been defeated by El Salvador, Canada, Mexico, and Mexico. However, the United States did have to forfeit none of its under-23 athletes because they were already playing in the senior national teams.
Brazil, Mexico and Canada will all be represented in the group stage. The U-23 squad will also face CONCACAF on March 18. Costa Rica will host the first group game on March 18. The next game in the group stage will be a knockout game between the top two teams. Two winners from this round will go on to the finals, and they will face off in the knockout round.
Team USA vs Honduras u20
The Hondurans are hoping to capitalise on their home advantage as they look to qualify for the Pre-World Cup. The national team performed well on the group stage. They will now be looking to replicate that performance in the CONCACAF U-20 qualification rounds. The match will take part at the General Francisco Morazan Stadium, also known by La Bombonerita.
Honduras' last game was a 2-1 win over Panama. Marco Tulio Aceituno scored a brace in Honduras' 2-1 win over Panama. From start to finish, however, the United States won that match. The Hondurans want to continue their winning ways by eliminating their opponents.
