Horan's high school career and college career took her all over the globe. She played in 2012 for the Colorado Rush, where she scored two goals and took 19 shots. Later she signed a six-figure contract with Paris Saint-Germain FC. Since then she has played for PSG as a forward.

Horan was already a talented player and had committed to play for the University of North Carolina, but she opted to stay in France and make a name for herself in the world of professional soccer.
Horan was still playing in her youth club and had a crush upon Messi, one the top USWNT players. After a family trip to Spain, Horan's youth club coach called her and offered her an opportunity to try out for the French club. After a brief break from college, Horan and her family moved to France and trained with the team. Horan did no official appearances with the team in an effort to maintain her NCAA eligibility.

USWNT midfielder Tom Horan has accepted a loan deal from Olympiquelyonnais jusqu' June 2023. It will allow him to join Olympique Lyonnais for the 2019 season. Horan will be joining Catarina Mcario, USWNT's teammate. Both players have been part of the Lyon squad since last year and will continue to be part the team.
