Alyssa Naeher serves as a soccer goalkeeper at the Chicago Red Stars (National Women's Soccer League). She also plays for the United States National Team. She made her professional debut in 2006, and since then has made it to the top.
Naeher was born on April 20, 1988, in Bridgeport, Conn. She has German, English, and French Canadian ancestry. Naeher was a member of the United States women’s national soccer squad in December 2014. Her first appearance was during a 7-0 win over Argentina during the International Tournament of Brazil. Naeher, who has since been one of the most successful goalkeepers in women’s soccer, is a key component of the team’s success.
Megan Rapinoe
Megan Rapinoe, who led the United States in victory at the 2019 Women's World Cup has won the Golden Ball (and the Golden Boot). She is also feminist who has been fighting to equal pay and being a strong advocate for women's soccer. She attributes the many changes she's seen in the game to her Seattle Reign coach Lisa Harvey and Jill Andonovski.
Rapinoe has not been denied the sport because of her controversial sexuality. But her popularity has enabled her to fight for equal rights for female players. She was a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community. In fact, she was one the first white athletes in the country to kneel during the national song. This act inspired Colin Kaepernick’s protests against racism in American sport. Rapinoe was also a defendant in a lawsuit filed against the US Soccer Federation regarding gender discrimination. The case was settled in 2021.

US women's soccer goalie Jerramy Stevens has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting her fiancee, Hope Solo. They were to be married on the same day as the altercation. Police say Stevens was detained on Monday for fourth-degree assault. However, a judge ruled that there wasn't enough evidence to file charges. However, prosecutors could bring charges later if they find other evidence.
Hope Solo is worried about Stevens’ arrest. Stevens, who was the captain of the U.S. Women's Soccer team and a former NFL tighten, is believed to have had an argument in 2014 with Stevens. Stevens was charged with a lesser charge, but he was released on bail. The couple have been married for over ten years and are expecting twins in March 2020.
