Is the US men's soccer team bad? There are many reasons for this, including lack of talent, ineffective tactics, and pay-to-play. I will address each one individually. The US Men's Football Team Needs to Improve
McKennie is the best middlefielder in the team
McKennie is the U.S. Men's Soccer Team's best midfielder. The 23-year old McKennie is a well-known name in Europe and has a unique history. He was born and raised in Little Elm, Texas, and has a Dallas skyline tattoo on his elbow. His father is an airman and he spent most of his early years in Texas before moving to Germany with FC Schalke 04 at the age of 17. He will transfer to Juventus for 2020.

Gregg Berhalter’s tactics don’t work
It's understandable why Berhalter's strategies have not worked for the USMNT. Berhalter's strategy of recruiting dual-nationals such as Yunus Mukhah has not been successful. The New York City native, the midfielder could also have played for Spain or Italy.
Talent shortage
The United States men's national soccer team has a serious problem with its talent pool. There are talks of "golden centuries" and teams who rise and fall in international soccer. However, this doesn't necessarily imply that the United States is devoid of talent. It simply means that we need to find more of it. It is not always as simple as it seems. Although it might not be as simple and straightforward as hiring a celebrity, that is just the beginning.
Pay-to-play
Some believe that USMNT's performance in tournament qualifying and tournaments is due to poor pay-toplay. It is possible that this model contributes to the poor performance by other soccer/football powers. For example, Iceland paid hundreds of coaches for UEFA licenses. More qualified coaches mean better quality players.

Lack of firepower
The USMNT has been steadily trending upwards for over 20 years, but it's now facing a serious problem: a lack of firepower. The recent loss to Honduras marks a new low in the USMNT's performance. This team is currently winless in 14 of its last 14. The team's poor performance this week has led to many cathartic rants, and calls for a complete overhaul. What can the team do?
