Moore played in Georgia Metros' 2005-2006 seasons
Maya Moore was an athlete for the Georgia Metros 16U Nike Travel Team between 2005 and 2006. Her team was 73-6 in 2005, and she received MVP honors. The team won four National Championships. Morgan Toles and D'Andra Moss were her teammates as young basketball players. She also played for the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team.

Moore was a member of the 2012 U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team
Maya Moore was one of four Minnesotans who competed for the U.S. Women's Olympic Basketball Team in 2012. She was the second American player to be selected for the team. Her efforts helped the United States earn the gold medal in 2012. Six gold medals were won in eight games by the U.S. Women's Basketball team, including two in London.
Moore's WNBA professional career has been put on hold.
Maya Moore has made it clear that she will be leaving the WNBA court for this season. Last played for Minnesota Lynx in 2018, at the age of 25. She said in February that Moore would be taking a vacation to pursue her dreams of becoming a minister and to concentrate on her family. Moore also worked to free Jonathan Irons for the 16-year-old crimes he was involved in.
Jonathan Irons, Moore’s husband, was convicted of a burglary in 2007 and a shooting in 2007.
Moore met Irons during a visit to her Missouri godparents. She also met his great-uncle, who introduced them to the rest of the family. Irons was 16 at the time, and was convicted on charges of burglary as well as shooting at the residence of a white gentleman. The homeowner, Stanley Stotler, recognized Irons as the perpetrator. The jury found him guilty and sentenced him for the crime to prison.
Moore proposed a proposal to Irons the night that he was freed
Moore proposed to Irons on the night a judge overturned his conviction for aggravated assault. Irons' conviction was overturned after the judge cited issues in the investigation. The couple is now engaged and plan to start a foundation to help wrongfully convicted individuals. Moore will be returning to basketball this spring.

Moore is expecting a boy with Irons
Maya Moore, her first child with Jonathan Irons, has just been announced. The baby boy was born February 20, 2022. The couple were married in 2020, after Jonathan was released. It is unknown if the couple still live together. Jonathan and Maya were in prison together, where they formed a close friendship.
